Engineering Outreach

The goal of the Engineering Outreach Committee is to develop activities and programs that foster learning, communication and relationships among younger students and future engineers. Its primary activities are outreach events each semester for elementary and middle school children, designed to encourage an interest in science and engineering disciplines through hands-on activities and presentations.

  • MIDDLE SCHOOL MINDS – a Fall event held on campus that hosts middle school students to give them a better understanding of engineering. During the day, professors and graduates students give demonstrations and present their research to the students.
  • ELEMENTARY IDEAS – a Spring event hosted at Purdue where elementary students come to learn about engineering. PESC members present different engineering activities representing the different engineering disciplines at Purdue.
  • IDEAS ON THE ROAD – a Fall outreach event where PESC members travel to elementary schools to present engineering activities to elementary students.
  • ENVISION – a Spring open house that showcases engineering student organizations and the schools of engineering at Purdue with lab tours and demonstrations for kids of all ages. This event is part of Purdue’s campus-wide SpringFest and is a great chance to see what is going on in other schools of engineering and to try  new activities.
  • Winter FEST – a Fall event where PESC works with Tippecanoe Mall to provide engineering activities for middle school and elementary school students at the Mall’s center court.
