Student Activities
The Student Activities Committee is responsible for putting on campus wide events for all Purdue students. Each SA member plans one event, with the help of the committee and other council members. In the Fall semester, SA puts on the Freshmen Picnic, Engineering Olympics, Ultimate Boilermaker Challenge, and Minute 2 Engineer It. In the Spring semester, SA’s events include Sports Tourney, Golf Tourney, and Student-Faculty Picnic.
Fall Events
- FRESHMEN PICNIC – a cookout held in Vawter Field to welcome freshman engineering students to Purdue.
- ENGINEERING OLYMPICS – a fun-filled day of inflatable games and obstacles courses. The event is held on the Engineering Mall and challenges students with physical activities. Students can have some fun between classes and win t-shirts and other prizes.
- ULTIMATE BOILERMAKER CHALLENGE – a 5K run where participants will not only run, but also be faced with various obstacles to overcome. A $5 entry fee is charged to all participants which will be donated to an engineering charity.
- MINUTE 2 ENGINEER IT - students are given the opportunity to put their hands on engineering skills to the test against the clock!
Spring Events
- SPORTS TOURNEY – a co-ed volleyball tournament followed by a men’s and women’s 5 on 5 basketball tournament. The tournament is held in RSC East/West Gyms and is open to students of all majors. Team registration is hosted on the PESC website.
- GRAND ALTERNATIVE GOLF TOURNEY – a free golf tournament held in junction with Purdue’s “Grand Alternative Week” to promote substance-free activities.
- STUDENT-FACULTY PICNIC - a cookout on the Engineering Mall in the Spring that provides a chance for students to interact with faculty in an informal setting during “Dead Week”.
